Jet Pulverizer is a global leader in the micronization and fine milling of Pyrite, as well as many other materials. The super fine particle size reduction of Pyrite is just one of our many specialties.

Commonly called fool’s gold, pyrite is the Earth’s most abundant sulfide mineral. Pyrite is a source of iron and sulfur and is used for the production of sulfuric acid. Pyrite is used to create iron sulfate that is used to make nutritional supplements, lawn treatment, ink, water treatment, and many other chemical processes including as a catalyst.

In auto and aerospace, iron pyrite is used as an active filler in grinding wheels, brake pads, and friction applications to help increase thermal conductivity. It can also help to balance the hardness and friction of brake pads.

Pyrite is also starting to be used new, disruptive applications. A newer commercial use for pyrite is as the cathode material in certain battery technologies. Pyrite is also a semiconductor material. Finally, pyrite has been proposed as an abundant, non-toxic, inexpensive material in low-cost photovoltaic solar panels.

Micronization can enhance performance of iron pyrite by increasing surface and therefore its thermal conductivity in various applications.

Jet Pulverizer has milling stations customized and dedicated to micronizing pyrite.
